The Revolve Magazine was initially designed as a place to archive images from our past collaborations with talents in the fashion industry. However, this simple concept took on a life of its own and grew into a weekly publication with designer interviews, trend forecasts, and elaborate fashion editorials.
Every week I am given the task to create layouts for articles and editorials. In an effort to make the magazine resemble a printed publication rather than a web blog, every layout is designed with content in mind. For the Vena Cava designer interview I chose to use architectural elements to emphasize the structure of the clothing and reference the designers' inspirations. For the Degaine designer profile, I used basic graphic elements and repetition to draw attention to the refereshing simplicity of their sweaters and tees.
Due to the eclectic group of designers we feature and the lack of a template, I come across unique obstacles every week. One of the biggest reoccuring challenges is working with pre-existing low resolution photographs that were not shot with magazine in mind. Another challenge is making these image heavy pages read like a printed magazine, but still remain web-browser friendly.
The magazine has been well received by Revolve Clothing customers and the fashion industry. We also received a positive feedback from Fabsugar.
Check out some other features I have worked on: Zimmermann, The Unknown Factory, Black and White Trend, Shadow Play, Pixel Perfect.
